Bill Clinton's annual meeting to begin in New York City

NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton's annual philanthropic conference will get under way in New York City with a discussion about climate change.
The Clinton Global Initiative is set to begin Tuesday morning with an opening session focused on addressing global climate challenges in coming years. The session will be co-hosted by Mexican President Felipe Calderon and South African President Jacob Zuma.
The three-day CGI conference brings together business and philanthropic leaders with deep pockets who make financial commitments aimed at tackling poverty and disease.
This year's meeting will feature appearances by numerous global dignitaries, including President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Last year, the conference generated nearly 300 new commitments valued at $6 billion to tackle major global issues from poverty and disease to climate change
